"MADE was thrilled be part of FWSD! We met an amazing group of talented designers and are looking forward to collaborating with them in upcoming seasons. We wish nothing but the best for the FWSD family and the growth of this event in the future." - MADE JEWELRY
"My experience with Fashion Week San Diego 2008 and Allison Andrews is a very positive one. As a result of my participation I’ve been able to network, grow my confidence as a designer, and develop a better understanding of the business as well. Allison took me under her wing, and turned what could have been a terrifying experience for a new designer into a pleasant learning and growing one. Thanks to my participation as a FWSD designer, many other opportunities to grow and develop my line and brand have presented themselves. I also now have the confidence and knowledge to pursue them more successfully. Thank you, Allison!" - Stacy May
“Allison has a passion and energy for her work that is infectious. Spearheading an ambitious undertaking like the first-ever Fashion Week San Diego and executing it with such class and courage as she did, despite a few unanticipated bumps along the way, just completely blew our team away. We have tremendous respect for her and what she has accomplished, not to mention her fearless, savvy approach to challenging projects, and we can’t wait to work with her again.” - Sarah Daoust 944 Editor San Diego
"My business relationship with Allsion Andrews, goes back a couple of years now.We first met at a SD Fashion event that APA consulting was throwing. I was thrilled to meet someone who was bringing the buzz, excitement and unity to SD's very slumber Fashion community. This hard working fashionista seems to be one of the major Fashion power players who always seems to be spearheading any fashion event we attend in San Diego. She is so dedicated, devoted and happy about keeping San Diego as hip as possible! I feel Allison and team did an amazing job pulling off San Diego's first Bi- National Fashion Week (FWSD). In spite of the physical and emotional challenges that were presented, the event came off as an inspiration to all Designers, Stylists, consumers and Media folk who attended the event. It was a blast! We clearly know SD is not a major fashion mecca such as NYC, Paris or Milan, but APA consulting, 944 magazine and all of the events contributors brought an event to life that truly sparked San Diego's Rebirth of Cool! "Allison Andrews and her organization pulled off the feat of launching San Diego's first ever Fashion Week, a huge undertaking. My team provided video coverage of the fashion show runway event, and we were impressed by the amount of community participation as well as how smoothly the event came off. Allison has certainly displayed her skills as an organizer, promoter and marketer with this accomplishment. We're excited to work with her company to help serve the branding and marketing needs of retail and fashion companies."- Ron Marcus, CEO, Shindy Media & Shindy.TV, San Diego's Modern Lifestyle Web TV
San Diego is not New York. Nor is it Paris, Milan, Los Angeles, Miami, Berlin, London, or Tokyo. It's San Diego, which is precisely why we love it whole-heartedly the way we do. San Diego's fashion culture teeters between the tastes and trends of two extremely artistic countries, and those of us who shop here are lucky enough to reap the benefits of each country.
Fashion Week San Diego is the world's only bi-national fashion week. Some of our designers speak only English; some speak only Spanish, and some an interesting blend of Spanglish. And that's the beauty. Through the cultivation of this event, we have crossed borders, and transcended cultural and linguistic boundaries. Above all, we've discovered a stunning array of talented individuals. The seamless blend of fashion and culture you will experience at Fashion Week San Diego knows no borders.
An event of this caliber is not possible without a strong desire from the region, the support of numerous communities, and the raw talent of artists. The creative vision, and incredible vision of featured designers, hair and make-up artists, musical brilliance of Shane Baker, and event designers Bambi Palma and Sean Stauder are unparalleled.
Over the past months, Chipotle kept us fed, Travelocity gave us inspiration for dream vacations, and Extensionista.com kept us looking good. All our sponsors and affiliates have given us great support, and made this possible.
Personally, I would like to thank my family for all of their support-especially my mother, Patricia Ross, for her style sense and encouragement, and to my step father, Bill Ross, for his advice and for reminding me to laugh it off.
And to all my girls in the office-you've helped make history. Without your patience, hard work, and giggles, it wouldn't have been the same.
By way of contrast, San Diego is a region united in the thirst for innovation, and demand for creativity. Our neighbors to the South are an extension of our city.We want to genuinely thank all of our contacts in Mexico-especially mayor Jorge Ramos, and everyone in his office.
As a parade of models spill down the runway at Fashion Week San Diego, you won't need me to tell you that this is quite possibly the most immense visual ecstasy you'll ever experience. See for yourself.
Welcome to Fashion Week San Diego!
